Comments – One Of The Success Keys

Holly Ralston-Oyler BlogComments…I need comments! One of my core and most urgent goals of  the new year is to have people leave comments on my blog posts. I’ve had a few here and there but nothing like the successful online blogs. For me it is a matter of retraining my current clients. They are reading my blogs like they read my websites of old – the content goes up, they read it and that is it. And oddly enough, I have never asked for their comments (sometimes fear of the unknown and silence is golden).

This week I have been focusing on blog content that ends with a request for comments and interaction! Hopefully I will be able to  create a two way conversation.

No more lurking readers for me. I want to wake up to tons of comments that need approving each morning. I want to know you are out there reading what I write and forming an opinion about it, good or bad. I’m not asking for comments that agree with my view, although those will be wonderful. I’m looking for interaction with those who do not agree, have a different point of view and yes, even competitors in my niche with a unique point of view to share with my readers.

I have been told a million times over that I wear my feelings on my sleeve, so this is going to really stretch my comfort zone a bit. I know there will be dissenting views and opinions. I also realize I may have to not approve some over-the-top readers who choose to unprofessionally  attack my readers point of view. I can only speak for myself when answering a terse comment, not for my readers. Interaction I will welcome with an open mind – battles between bloggers I will not.

My goal in this new way of blogging is to build a loyal following, create content worth engaging in and not wasting my readers time or energy. That is quite a responsibility and one I hold very seriously.  I am done writing to you, I am now writing for you and me, so we can talk about it together.

Do you currently leave comments on other blogs? How often and what blogs are you following faithfully. Let me know, so I can also follow them and learn from those that hold your trust and loyalty.
