Jeopardizing Your Internet Marketing Future

…By Focusing On Your Past?

“I’m Holly Ralston-Oyler bringing you Internet Marketing a new way. Clear, simple and innovative without creating overwhelm, through resource-centered websites, eCourses and publishing”.

Quite a difference from my original USP of 21 days ago;

“I inspire, educate and support new Internet Marketers (newbies) on how to break down the overwhelming amount of IM marketing learning and class materials and into a single, step-by-step focus driven project, enabling them to build their business with confidence, project by project”.

To explain the changes that have occurred over the past 21 days would take another lifetime, and quite frankly at 64 I don’t have that kind of time. What I do have is a whole new focus and understanding of who I am – at this point in my life. I came very close to jeopardizing my future by relying and focusing on my past. I’m not talking about 42 years ago or even two years ago. I’m talking about one year ago, a mere 365 day ago.

For years I have traveled the nation presenting my program “Strategies…For Living With Change”. We all used-to-be-something…married, thin, fat, a size 2, blond, disease free, single – the list goes on and on. Every day of our lives we live with change. Most of the time is goes by quickly and we do not notice it. But every now and then a life-changing event will happen and get our undivided attention.

Such was the case last March when my life started changing slowly. There were things forgotten, left undone, a retreat inward, not wanting to go to work and an overwhelming tiredness. To sum up my life in just a few words I am going to quote a business owner in the building where my retail store was. “You started coming into work late, wearing flats (I was born in heels) and totally non-accessorized. When you stopped carrying your Franklin Covey planner, designer handbags (she who dies with the most wins) and your brief case we knew something was drastically wrong”. Yep! That pretty much sums up my old life. In June I crashed and burned and in the first week in July I had two life altering strokes. I don’t remember much about July and August. But in September I realized I was in a totally new world but could not let go of the old one. I was lucky, no physical damage, just memory issues, processing the simple things and social interaction fears.

To say I struggled through until last month would be an understatement. I was trying to create a new business, take care of an old one and act like everything was just great.

What made such a difference? The assignments given in Connie Ragen Green’s 21 Day Challenge made me focus on one or two specific points of business per day. I had to search inward to see what I really wanted to create from my online presence and ask the tough questions like, “could I really make a difference or would I just be copying what everyone else was doing”?

I would love to tell you I completed every single challenge to perfection, but I didn’t. I have avoid the teleseminar and You Tube video, mainly because those are two areas I that I have had zero training in. Yes, of course I purchased products on those topics, but haven’t gotten to then yet. They are living quietly on my hard drive. The social networking assignment from day 15 will have to wait awhile. I still have a horrible time in crowds and with noise so I haven’t been out of the house in a month or so. But I have a plan…I’m working toward an Orlando event in May! How is that for blind faith in Connie, I don’t even know what the event is, but it is now a goal.

The rest of this week’s blogs will be about specific lessons I learned during this challenge. I will also be introducing you to several additional people (and new friends) that had a huge roll in this event. It seems the planets were all aligned (well, except for that technology one) to create one huge cosmic event which will end up “bringing you Internet Marketing a new way. Clear, simple and innovative without creating overwhelm, through resource-centered websites, eCourses and publishing”.
